We are a growing team looking for a Legal Counsel in the Legal department to help us on our journey to revolutionize road freight logistics. The role is located in our Berlin office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO …

As a Legal Counsel, Data Protection & IT, you’ll work on interesting responsibilities and collaborate closely with other stakeholders, such as our IT or People department, or Product and Engineering.

  • Implement, optimize, and further develop the data protection management system in a national and international context.
  • Advise management and specialist departments on all data protection issues together with the Data Protection team.
  • Conceptualize and implement processes, regulations, and standards in the area of data protection.
  • Update the list of processing activities including the TOM, as well as adapt the company guidelines on IT and data protection.
  • Create and implement retention concepts and check compliance with defined processes and specifications for configuring and operating the IT systems.
  • Conduct data protection audits and impact assessments of planned or developing IT applications.
  • Maintain interfaces with the (IT) security, audit, legal, and compliance departments.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR …

We are seeking a German-qualified lawyer with at least two years of post-qualification experience, who is fluent in both German and English, and possesses the following qualifications:

  • Data Protection Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operational data protection (or a strong willingness to acquire this knowledge).
  • Technological Acumen: Familiarity with modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, web technologies, etc. (or a strong willingness to acquire this knowledge).
  • Contract Management Experience: Previous experience in contract management is preferred.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Proactive, innovative, and analytical thinking to address complex data protection challenges.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: The capability to anticipate and address data protection and IT law issues swiftly and efficiently, showcasing a proactive approach to regulatory changes and challenges.
